How We Built a Cinematic Concert Experience
Discover how Padded Waltz syncs live music to this cult sci-fi film, creating an immersive show unlike anything you've seen before.

Padded Waltz offers two distinct live experiences: a cinematic film-score concert and a standalone progressive art-rock set.

Live film scoring of cult sci-fi cinema.
We mute the original audio of two 1960s sci-fi films (First Spaceship on Venus and Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women) and perform a fully original score live in sync with the films. The music is rooted in progressive art-rock, with both instrumental and vocal sections shaped around the pacing and tone of each scene. Dialogue and sound effects are layered in where they support the story. The show can run as one continuous audiovisual concert or split into two sets, depending on the event. There’s no talking, just film and live music, perfectly fused.

Progressive art-rock performance.
Our original material blends raw indie rock with complex rhythms, big builds, and unexpected turns. Jess, our lead singer, performs wearing a working TV monitor that plays surreal visuals throughout the set. The experience is strange, bold, and unpredictable, but never background music.
Padded Waltz is a band of seasoned musicians pushing the boundaries of live performance. With Jess Breite (vocals), Drake Descant (keys/vocals), Ian Haas (drums), Dan Girouard (guitar), and Forest Loomis-Dulong (bass), we craft dynamic, high-energy shows that merge sound, cinema, and storytelling.
